Mr. Amnuay Klinyoo, President of the The Sports Association for the Blind of Thailand (SABT):

At The Sports Association for the Blind of Thailand (SABT), it is crucial for us to establish a dedicated sport center specifically designed for blind individuals, known as the “Thailand Sport Center for Blind Athlete.” After more than 40 years of operation, we have recognized the pressing need for our own sport center because the sports we engage in are unique and require specialized facilities.

Each type of blind sport has its own distinct characteristics due to the diverse disabilities involved. This makes it even more necessary to have a dedicated sport center tailored to the specific needs of blind athletes. We are determined to make every effort to establish this center to support visually impaired individuals who strive for sporting excellence and those who seek the benefits of physical fitness through sports.

“Blind sports are not solely about excelling; they are about physical well-being as well.” Engaging in sports promotes muscle development, physical agility, blood circulation, and contributes to overall physical and mental health, which is a natural aspect of human life. Therefore, it is essential to have a sports facility that meets the required standards and offers blind individuals increased opportunities to participate in sports with proper regulations and international standards.

We, as an association, have great hope that we can establish a Sport Center for the Blind through the collective efforts of all stakeholders who understand the importance of sports. “Because sports serve as a tool to strengthen both the body and mind, demonstrating to society that the potential for development exists beyond disabilities.”

We can transform the perception of being burdensome that society often associates with visual impairment. Sports can play a significant role in showing that we can utilize our existing potential for personal and societal benefits. Having proper support and a suitable venue for sports is imperative, just as having a home of our own is incredibly beneficial for blind individuals. It will provide tremendous advantages for every blind person, giving them opportunities, they deserve.
